FREE CUSHIONS FOR LIFE
That's our promise for new PVC furniture buyers. We launched the Free Cushions for Life campaign
in July, and it's been a big hit.
Feedback from our customers has proved to us that although PVC pipe furniture lasts almost
indefinitely, the cushions need to be replaced occasionally. Many folks get well over 10 years life
from their cushions, so we decided to add this feature for our furniture buyers as an added
bonus.
And even if you can't wait 10 years to replace them, we offer reduced prices on a pro-rated
scale any time before then. See details here
New Sunbrella®
Fabrics
Sunbrella® is probably the most well-known brand for outdoor fabrics, and last year we were
fortunate to be able to include their entire range in our portfolio of patio cushion and umbrella
fabrics.
This season, 20 new fabrics are being added to the range. Most are stripes in striking new
colors, but there are also a few additions to the "Dupione" range, and a beautiful new solid color
called "Canvas Pistachio".
The new colors will be incorporated into our websites in a week or so.

Revere Never Finished His Ride
We all know about Paul Revere's Ride, right? We all know about how Paul Revere rode from Lexington
to Concord to warn the Americans that the British were coming. We all know about how he rode
through the streets yelling, "The British Are Coming! The British Are Coming!"
We all know about it, yet it isn't true.
The truth is that Paul Revere never finished that ride that come to be named after him. Paul Revere
was stopped by a British patrol on his way to Concord. He never made it!
In fact, he was riding with two other men, only one of whom succeeded in warning the Americans in
Concord that the British were coming.
William Dawes also rode with Paul Revere that night. He, too, was stopped by a British patrol. He
managed to escape, as did Dr. Samuel Prescott, the third rider.
Revere, meanwhile, didn't escape until much later, and without his horse. He walked back to
Lexington and made it there in time to witness part of the battle on Lexington Green.
Dawes, meanwhile, got lost in the dark and never made it to Concord.
Only Dr. Samuel Prescott reached Concord, where he delivered the warning, "The British are Coming!"
And when the British came to Concord, the Americans were ready.
Why is Paul Revere famous? Several reasons:
- He was a well-known figure in the Revolutionary community. He was a silversmith who made
lots of things out of silver and sold them to all kinds of people, including the Sons of
Liberty.
- He made the famous engraving of the Boston Massacre that stirred up so much hatred for the
British.
- He was the subject of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem that became very famous.

Candy bars are ever evolving, with new ones
added and old ones phased out. This makes their history particularly interesting, as evidenced
below.
- In 1932, the original Three Musketeers bar had three pieces of candy; one chocolate, one
vanilla and one strawberry.
- Frank and Ethel Mars introduced the Snickers bar in 1929. They named it after their
family’s horse.
- There is controversy as to who the Baby Ruth bar is named after. The Curtiss Candy Company,
who introduced it in 1921, claims it was named after Grover Cleveland’s daughter Ruth. Skeptics
argue that it was actually named after baseball legend Babe Ruth, but an endorsement deal fell
through.
- Ordinary citizen Nikola Jovanovic named the Butterfinger candy bar. He won a naming contest
by sending in his own nickname, which he got for being a klutz.
- The town of Derry Church, Pennsylvania, was renamed Hershey to honor Milton Hershey and his
candy bar factory.
- The Wonka bar is a chocolate bar with the word "Wonka" imprinted on it and a graham cracker
base. It is named after a fictional candy bar of the same name in the book Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory.
- Have a break … have a Kit Kat, was this candy bar’s slogan for a whopping 47 years.
